GOkey: Charger. Cable. Locator. Memory. All on your key-ring.

the goKey is probably what you’ve been waiting for. It is an amazing project, which you’ll discover by reading until the end.

First, it has a 400 mAh battery, enough to last you around 2h on an iPhone 5s which has a 1440 mAh battery. according to my very scientific research, that account for 36% of the iPhone’s battery, which is realistic for its size. To check the remaining battery, Gokey has an accelerometer which allows it to recognize a shake gesture, telling you how much more it has left with three colors: red is low, green is full, and orange charging.

next it has both a USB cable at the end of the key part, and the lightning connector wraps around the rounded part in a very nice manner, meaning it can also be used as a simple cable, to charge or to sync data like with any cable. Basic stuff.

Aaaaand more interestingly, it includes a features many projects already advertised heavily: a bluetooth locator. That means, that if you lose your phone, by pressing on the goKey, it makes the phone ring, just like calling it from another phone would do, but when you are alone, you probably don’t have two phones. Or if you do, that’s pretty lame. Meh. THAT’S NOT ALL ! it works both ways ! if you lose your keys, or more accurately the goKey and anything attached to it, the goKey app helps you find it  and makes it ring at the same time ! I guess the excuse “I lost my keys isn’t valid anymore… Well I guess we have to adapt.

Finally, when you thought it could’t go any further than this, sometimes, once upon a hundred times, a projects stands out and succeed where so many have failed. The goKey provides either 8, 16 or 32gb options. For now it is only accessible via the USB cable, so not on the iPhone, but the MFI certification of another project which does just that, external memory available in iphone apps, tells me it could get into either this version or the next.

Fellow enthusiast have a few ideas for enhancing an already incredible project, which may or may not be included in the stretched goals, as so far there hasn’t been any. What most call for is the possibility to access data from the iPhone, which is a hurdle to get certification for, USB 3.0 which I haven’t even thought of mainly because my Macbook air from 2011 doesn’t has it and i’ve never felt the need for it, an increase in battery which the team is said to be working on the best they can, and the possibility of using it as a PowerPoint presenter for presentations to skip slides, which I find great and feasible with current hardware If I am not mistaken.

What’s more, the project has a referral system which refunds you 10$ everyone pledges from your own personal link. So far 20 people already won’t have to pay a single dim for their goKey. If you have friends and a network, there is a strong chance that might be your case too ! at the least you’ll probably get at least one 10$ off, which is better than nothing.

So hurry up to get yours, as there is a limited number of units still available !

Limeade 18,000 mAH battery fits in your hand, and can charge your iPhone 12 times

There are many external batteries for iPhones, some in cases, some not, but except super expensive models, they can charge iPhone once or twice. Not so good. This battery aims to be at the same time huge and as small as it can possibly be.

Actually, there are three different models: 13 000, 15 600, 18 000 mAH:

But this battery isn’t dull. It actually has a few advantages you may not knew you needed.

First, it can charge two devices at a time, like your Ipad and your iPhone, basically:

It is rechargeable by 2A, meaning it can charge in about 10h, or around a night.

It has a safety flashlight, you know, just in case you’re in the middle of nowhere and the only thing you have with you is your Limeade battery. It has a charge indicator with 4 LED, not very precise, but useful to know when the battery needs to be plugged in. It also comed with a 30 pin and micro usb cable, but no lightning cable, which are used by iPhone 5 and iPads.

To finish off, here is a table which shows how many times each device can be charged:

  • Apple iPhone 4 or 5: ~12.5 times
  • Samsung Galaxy S III: ~8 times
  • Samsung Galaxy Note: ~7 times
  • Amazon Kindle Fire: ~4 times
  • Apple iPad 1 or 2: ~2 times
  • Google Nexus 4: ~8.5 times
  • Google Nexus 10: ~2 times
  • Sony PSP: ~11 times
  • Apple iPod Nano: ~171 times

As you notice, you can’t use it with you PC or mac. It’s not the right voltage. Anyway, if you want to buy this monster, hurry up, they are selling like hotcakes !!!

DOCKr 4in1 solution for Ipad: keyboard, battery, speakers, usb, protective case.

Actually The DOCKr is advertised as a 6in one Product, but the last two are “colos and style” and “multiple angles of viewing”, wich aren’t really features, you know. At first, the DOCKr seems like a cheap plastic accessory, and that’s too bad, because in fact, it is one of the most advanced solutions to turn any Ipad in a small computer.

See ? it looks like a toy. Nevertheless, It’s actually great. The battery included is about 4-8h, and can charge other devices, via the usb port. The keyboard in fact is just a space for the apple bluetooth keyboard or the inuenvo keyboard they sell, but as it is the best bluetooth keyboard, we won’t complain about that, are we ? A noteworthy feature, the Ipad can be in portrait or landscape mode. Neat. Last but not least, the wireless speakers are bluetooth, stereo, and are effective from 30 feet. for 135$ with a keyboard,The DOCKr really a good deal.

charge your Iphone with your friend’s Iphone ? Now possible with chargebite

can you imagine the situation ? You don’t have any battery, but all of your friends or coworkers do. Why not borrow them a little power ? As simple as that:

ChargeBite compatibility

the chargebite is composed of 3 mini 30pin connector. One of them is used to receive power. The other two are used to send power. No battery, no cable. So tiny it fits on a keychain:ChargeBite attaches to your keychain

It seems like this project launched today or at least recently, so if you want to get your hands on the early birds, it is still time ! head over to their indiegogo project for more precisions on the chargeBite.

Givism: 3 Ways to Give Your Mobile Battery A Long Life It Deserves

givelanthropy

1. Charge your mobile device when the battery life screams warning zone.
When your mobile device gives a low battery warning message of 20% left, and blinks red again at 10%, make sure to recharge the poor guy. Also, it hurts the Lithium Ion battery to dip that low. Whatever you do, don’t let your battery kick the bucket!

2. Don’t mess with Lithium Ion chemistry.
If you find yourself with a dead battery and want to ressurect it and squeeze the last seconds of electric juices so you can read a breaking story on Reddit, don’t do it unless it’s an emergency! Turning your device back on after it has PTFO can burn out your precious Lithium Ion.

3. Say no to H20!
Keep your battery away from any beverages, rain, shower, toilet, soup, or Niagara Falls.
