after the bluetooth headphones, the bluetooth earbuds !

What is the point of having bluetooth earbuds, you may ask, as earbuds are already easy to use and don’t take much space in your pocket. Well actually it happens that these one have a few advantages on their side.

As you might except of it, these earbuds uses latest generation bluetooth. Like an Ipod nano, it clips to your clothes to stay in reach. One of the possible problem of this kind of product surely is how to manage the dangling cords. The patented solution proposed by this inventor is a small magnet, to hold them on the side of the clipper.

Apart from this killer feature, elroy makes it possible to skip songs, manage volume, but also take calls just by taking one of the two away from the magnet.

The elroy is kickstarting now, so take a peek if you like it.

telepresence at its best: KUBI, a robotic Ipad stand for video calls.

Before the video, I wasn’t very exited about the project. Kubi looked like a bicornuate to me. But I soon realized It was one of the object I’ll save money for, thinking about it everyday. I’m like that.

So KUBI is a robotic Ipad stand you can control from the other side of the world, a bit like the Romo, but the it is for Iphone only and can move around. But KUBI isn’t a toy: It’s a tool first designed for pros, not for amusement, that’s why the design is more sober than the romo.

The romo is controlled by the app, wich works like this:

the only downside to this app, but it is not their fault, is that the two caller need the app. You can also call with facetime, but you won’t be able to make the KUBI move by tapping the screen, but through a web browser, on another tablet or computer.

The KUbi is for the moment on indiegogo, waiting for your to back it. You can get it for 200$.

design or function ? the Doorbot Wifi Doorbell.

Doesn’t this look wrong ? It’s supposed to be an high-tech doorbell, which I have no doubt it is, but the design… I’m speechless. It looks just like an elevator pannel. You don’t believe  me ? look at this picture and tell me the contrary:

There is even a glowing light ! “which floor are we going mom ?/ It’s not an elevator my son, just an ugly doorbell” And it’s made of “unibody aluminium”, in order to look like apple (or star wars, I don’t know). Seriously guys, aluminium isn’t the only metal on earth is it ? Of course the camera is 3 foot long, like every normal camera.

Appart from that, It’s a camera that can viewed from “anywhere in the world” from your Iphone( so you can make people believe you’re at home). The great feature I give in are the lokitron capabilities, which I’ve already talked about. When someone rings, you get instant one way video chatting, and a lock/unlock button, if a lockitron is connected to your network.

Overall, it’s a great product in a shitty design. I think I will wait to have one with Lockitron neat design, not this elevator functional object.

3D printer round-up #2: the Form 1, the most precise ever.

The Form 1 is its name, and it kickstarted back in October, and managed to get 2 500 000$ to mass-production.

it’s not only classy apple-style aluminium, the transparent orange is a genius design move, in my opinion.

So what’s so original about it except the design ? Its performance: using stereolithography, the Form 1 is, according to the makers, 200 times or so more precise. and when you look at the render of machine like the replicator, or makerbot, you start to want something more:

The Flip n’Grip™ Wallet by BJ Minson & Dan Loveridge — Kickstarter

I know what you’re gonna say: again, a wallet project on kickstarter ?

we already had the TGT (Tight) – A New Kind Of Wallet The HuMn WalletThe Vi Card Holder The Minimal(M45//) WalletInevitable Wallets and many more. So I wasn’t very confident about the project, the noun sounded like a gadget a to me, but man, when I saw this thing, I literally watched the video 5 times in a row, for it has a level of awesomeness few people can bring.

The Flip n’Grip™ Wallet

it’s a shame they didn’t make the video public, and I don’t have time to find a way to share it to you right here. you will have to click on that url, sorry.

here are some pics of the thing:

so, as you can see, there is the flip, which really is a toy, and the grip, which is the real innovation of this product. As far as I know, the flip just help being cool performing backlflips and tricks, and eventually help you or pickpocket, you decide take it out of your pocket.

The Grip, on the contrary, is revolutionar. it manages to keep all your card tight, without taking place, and at the same time easily accesible, just press it and the card ill come in a symetrical stair, so that you can see and take them all without problems.

A few other great things about it is that it’s supersolid, for those of you who still haven’t seen the video, dishwasher-free, the cards can’t fall if you don’t activate the grip, and it’s RFID and NFC safe.

the main downside is obviousvly the price, starting from 99$, it’s a lot more expensive than your last one. but way cooler

awesomeness: 5/5

durability: 5/5

price: 2/5

Scandock, an Iphone scanner accessory

At first I thought it was an entire scanner for the Iphone, but it turned out the Scandock is just a couple of lightbulbs and an Iphone holder to take photos. it seems to make better scans than IOS apps (of course), and has a great lighting treatment. However,as it costs 475$, I would definitely recommend any other PC scanners. It comes from kickstarter

The home phone, a 360° speaker as a phone

yeah, 2013 is here, and kickstarter is coming back from the holidays with scool projects ! 😀 today, I want to tell you about the home phone, which is a french project, from Paris. You can tell by their accent in the video 😉

Anyway, what does the home phone can do better than any other classic phone ?

For first, a 360° speaker is built-in in the base, making it possible to speak with many people at the same time, which is often needed because only grandparents call the home phone, and they want to speak with everybody.

don’t think however that you can’t speak in the phone without earplug: if the home phone is off the table, it will lower the sound and make it unidirectional  Put it back in the table and everyone can hear. speaking while not putting a phone directly on your ear ,according to them, reduces electromagnetic exposure by 99%. Oh, and it’s HD sound, what Iphone are supposed to be capable of, but so far only T-Mobile announced HD call.

the battery can last twice as much as the average phone, but a docking station is provided so it should’t be an issue. Voicemail is possible you you have one. On top of that is a little screen, to show who called, etc. At the back is the keypad, which seems to me the only downside of the home phone. Imagine you think you typed the wrong number, you therefore need to turn the phone over to check if that’s true. the advantage is that you dont see the terrible keypad with rubber buttons. In this aspect, the keypad really look like any phone.

voila, that’s all for the home phone. It’s currently on kicksarter, but hurry my friend, the 54£(85$) version is already sold out !
