Helios Bars – Transform any bike into a smart bike.

if you know about fixie, then you probably don’t want to add extra lights, speed counters, GPS to your bike. It would make it ugly. Helio bars can do all of it, in the bar:

The two models proposed, the bullhorn and the drop style look absolutly gorgeous :

The Helios includes one front light, which seems decently powerful, two side lights, which you can activate in blinking re when turning, a Low powered GPS, and a speed counter, which can make the two rear lights change color accordingly:

What’s more, the Helios comes with an iPhone app, in which you can set light color, anda bluetooth proximity sensor wich will light the bike when you arrive. The GPS function sin’t really included in the app, but a weird SMS system allows you to text your bike, and it will respond the exact location. I would have preferred a real time map, but for some reasons, it isn’t there.

Anyway, the Helios bars is the best bike gadget I’ve seen so far, and I’ll definitely buy one soon !

HiddenRadio2 bluetooth speaker is overwhelmingly good

A long time has passed since my last post, but rejoice, today’s awesome product might make you excuse me for that.

Introducing HiddenRadio2, a revision of the first iteration of the name HiddenRadio, which was rather well received by tech critics. The main drawback were FM usability and Sound not being so great after all.

but both of these concern seem to have been resolved with this year’s product.

In response to the hood muffling the sound and more generally relatively poor deep and eerie high, The team implemented a top of the line technology called dual “speaker neodymium“. Let see what that really means. Apparently they have a “high output to weight ratio which makes them ideal for a number of portable applications”. Perfect for the HiddenRadio2 isn’t it ? the result is cristal-clear highs and cavernous deeps:

About the FM radio, well, there is none now. Get over it. Life moves on. Honestly what use is there to an FM radio when you’ve got all these application that can stream thousands of radios from the internet like TuneIn Radio ?

But that is not all folks ! You did not honestly though it would be it did you ? HiddenRadio2 has still 3 main features you ant to hear about:

Let’s go over them from left to right, right ? That would totally makes sense. But let’s do the contrary like true anarchists.

Magic lift means you just have to touch the top to boot up the device like and raise the top like it’s an elevator from Star Trek or something.

Smart control is actually more or less the same thing as magic lift, in the way it uses the touch sensor on the top to enable simple control: tap once to pause, tap twice to go forward, or draw a circle clockwise to increase the volume. Hell yeah, you can even call siri ! As the HiddenRadio2 has noise-canceling mics and hands free calls software, My guess is that you’ll start using Siri a lot more with the Speaker than before. Anyway my thought is that it’s pretty damn cool.

Multipoint, I think you’ve guessed by now enables you to connect to multiple speakers at once. Two different use case: you can have one in each room, or enable stereo and use them to watch a movie or something.

Lastly, the battery last a whooping 15 hours, which is not the highest in the portable speakers jungle but still in the high end. It can deliver some 90db, meaning you’ll suffer hearing loss if you stay around it at max volume for too long.          In case the design wasn’t obvious enough, the HiddenRadio2 has a 360° sound, how could it not.

To conclude, I’de say that for 149$, it’s a rather admirable deal, if the sound is indeed better than before. However don’t wait for the kickstarter campaign to end, as retail versions will sell for some 199$. Whatever, just take a look at this comparaison, you won’t argue very long

Life-proof battery pack launches on kickstarter

there are as many external batteries for mobiles devices as there are battery low warning. It never stops. every week, another company launches a revolutionary product. It often isn’t. This time though, the claim is justified.

The Zendure isn’t one, but three different batteries: 9000, 12 000, 15 000 mah.

First, the basic model can charge 8.5 times an iPhone. That’s huge. It can also be run over by a car. You know, just in case you wanted to try.

The Zendure can actually charge while being charged, meaning you don’t even need an adapter for you smartphone cable when you leave to an exotic country.

Unlike the battery of any electronic device, the battery can stay 95% charged after 6 month without being used a single time.

There is no need to boot the Zendure. The battery detects when a cable is plugged-in, and boots up the battery.

And Voila ! I think I’ve just given you 4  killer features that’ll make you want to rush to their campaign. Am I being a little over-enthusiastic ? That’s possible :p. But bear in mind that no other battery can achieve the last 3 features !

TRACE activity monitor for action sports

Activity monitors are common. Running and cycling ones especially. There are a tons of these out there, which can keep track of tons of useful data: heart rate, step’s length, kl, etc. Although i’m a cycling fan’ these devices usually don’t appeal to me much. All I want to know is my average speed, top speed, how long it took, and compare it with other local bikers with strava.

However it happens I am an olympic-level snowboarder, and what differs in action sports compared to run/bike, is that there are many differents movements, forces, speed to keep track of. TRACE aims to be THE solution for all the frustrated skateboards/Surfers/Snowboarders that can’t have this kind of data, expect with outrageously expensive hardware

i’m not a fan of surfing and skating, so that’s why I’m mainly focusing on snowboard, but know that the creator of the TRACE have thought of all three sport equaly: all have their own app in the app store: RE surf, RE skate, RE snow. Here are some screenshot or the beta versions of theses apps, which seem to be at an advanced stage:

For Skaters: Profile, Visit Detail, Trick Detail

For Surfers: Visit Detail, Profile, Graph Detail

AlpineReplay: Graph Detail, Newsfeed, Run Breakdown

TRACE works with bluetooth 4.0 and WiFI, but doesn’t need to be connected to your smartphone to work (which would be hard while surfing for example. It is still possible to get TRACE for 129$, although it maddens me a bit that the early bird version was 30$ cheaper and will ship 3 weeks early.

the compact wallet is the perfect compromise between accessibility and minimalism (hands-on review)

Hey guys ! today is a great day 😀 want to know why ? It’s my first ever hands-on review ! Let’s get started !

I saw, from far many, many, MANY minimalist wallets on kickstarter. the first one was, If I remember well, the slim. since then, and their incredible succes (220 000$), nobody can count how many young designers hoped to achieve the same. Kickstarter tells me there are 121 projects with “wallet” in their name. That’s huge. So how can the compact stand out of the plethora of those ? Well, in fact, by not trying too. Many want to innovate too much, and come up with ridiculous ideas, like this one if you want to laugh.

Anyway, my wallet used to be a mighty wallet, which already aims to make wallets thinners:

in real life, with all my cards inside, it looked like this:

2013-04-24 12.55.38   2013-04-24 12.56.58

Not so bad, but I don’t have much to cary, as you can see. After making a few sacrifices, here is what I choose to put in my compact wallet:

2013-04-24 12.58.31

As the compact wallet only has one metallic piece, the thickness is only the cards and the rubber band. After putting my cards in, It was about 0,8cm.

After a few days of use, I find it easier to manage than my previous wallet. cards couldn’t fall out, and the little clipping made it easier to stretch the rubber band and acces my cards. If you don’t have a tons of cards in it, as they propose no more than 12, but honestly, I’de say no more than 8, after that, the rubber band’s too stretched to mange easy acces to them.

What I also find great is the possibility to separate two deck you cards. I personally put business cards and fidelity cards on one side, and other credit, assurance cards, etc on the other.

finally the metallic texture fells good, and looks good.

There are, however, a few disadvantages.

I won’t say it holds less cards than usual wallets, because that’s the aim, but if you want to transpose your old into this one, you will have a few troubles. It is made to change you wallet’s use.

First, there are only three colors, including black. I don’t even imagine using the green one with white rubber band. Never.

Secondly, the rubber band’s finition could have been better, but the metallic piece highly compensate this default.

What’s the verdict ? I’m gonna stick with this new wallet until I buy an Iphone, then I’ll probably buy the SAFE wallet for Iphone 5. It is a great minimalist wallet, better than many of them, but not the king yet.

world’s most beautiful 3D printer: colors and micron precision.

you may suppose I’m pitching it strong a bit. Well, maybe I am, but just look at this, and we’ll compare it to other 3D printers:

bot

the only one possible to horn in is the FORM 1 (I’m sorry about comparing every printer with the FORM, but it’s the most precise and the most beautiful to date !):

photo-full

We don’t have much infos on the ProDesk3D, but a feature stands out: It is able to print in different colors without changing the leed manually. It is also as precise as the FORM 1, as they are announcing 25 micron precision, meaning you can’t even see it.

The ProDesk3D by BotObjects isn’t selling yet, as they are still in development, but I’m felling a crowndfunding campaign will likely emerge sonner than later. For Now, they only have a one page Website.

P.S: don’t forget I started a new blog here, which if you liked this kind of stuff, will likely interest you as well 😉

Limeade 18,000 mAH battery fits in your hand, and can charge your iPhone 12 times

There are many external batteries for iPhones, some in cases, some not, but except super expensive models, they can charge iPhone once or twice. Not so good. This battery aims to be at the same time huge and as small as it can possibly be.

Actually, there are three different models: 13 000, 15 600, 18 000 mAH:

But this battery isn’t dull. It actually has a few advantages you may not knew you needed.

First, it can charge two devices at a time, like your Ipad and your iPhone, basically:

It is rechargeable by 2A, meaning it can charge in about 10h, or around a night.

It has a safety flashlight, you know, just in case you’re in the middle of nowhere and the only thing you have with you is your Limeade battery. It has a charge indicator with 4 LED, not very precise, but useful to know when the battery needs to be plugged in. It also comed with a 30 pin and micro usb cable, but no lightning cable, which are used by iPhone 5 and iPads.

To finish off, here is a table which shows how many times each device can be charged:

  • Apple iPhone 4 or 5: ~12.5 times
  • Samsung Galaxy S III: ~8 times
  • Samsung Galaxy Note: ~7 times
  • Amazon Kindle Fire: ~4 times
  • Apple iPad 1 or 2: ~2 times
  • Google Nexus 4: ~8.5 times
  • Google Nexus 10: ~2 times
  • Sony PSP: ~11 times
  • Apple iPod Nano: ~171 times

As you notice, you can’t use it with you PC or mac. It’s not the right voltage. Anyway, if you want to buy this monster, hurry up, they are selling like hotcakes !!!
